Produced by Cone McCaslin, whose credits also include The Strumbellas and Operation MD, and mixed by Gus Van Go and Werner F, the eight songs that made up Northern Lies caught the attention of media across the country.  Beatroute Magazine said: ““There are equal parts of previous decades here while vocally some more recent acts come to mind. Nowhere is this more apparent on “New York City Blues” which showcases everything Sun K is capable of. While the members of the band are relatively young, they must have access to good record collections. In a niche fraught with fraudsters, they come across honestly.”  While Toronto Star’s Chris Young said, “…off a couple listens there’s much to like, including Kristian Montano’s husky baritone, the organ swirls of Stuart Retallack, and the band’s sure touch and dynamics on Montano’s carefully constructed songs that go from pensive to rousing and recall Lou Reed, Joel Plaskett and the Gaslight Anthem.”

Sun K’s line-up features a sonically dynamic group of guys, including front man Kristian Montano, keyboardist Stuart Retallack who also plays horns, guitarist and fiddler Kevin Michael Butler, bassist JuHang Sin and a new addition to the group is drummer Scott Tiller.

Be sure to catch them this summer!

“The band bring together a gritty blend of rock, blues and folk, led by vocalist Kristian Montano. Going for a vocal delivery in the vein of Julian Casablancas and Lou Reed, he pairs his singing chops with a guitar sound “honed directly through the Neil Young songbook.”” - EXCLAIM

“Even though this is only a debut album, you’ll want to keep your eye on this band for more because they’re surely going places.” CANADIAN BEATS

“Sun K may be just the next big rock act to emerge out of Toronto, and if Northern Lies proves anything, it’s that sometimes, in order to keep moving forward, we need to look back for inspiration.” HEAVY PRESS

San Fermin Announce Tour Supporting Alt-J

Canadian Dates In BC and Alberta - Festival Stops At NXNE And Osheaga

“…a bigger, bolder and, yes, even better album than San Fermin’s debut…a glorious second effort…” – CBC Music

“Under the careful stewardship of mastermind Ellis Ludwig-Leone, Brooklyn’s San Fermin has become a ferocious, precise vessel…His predilection for marrying sublime pop melodies to bombastic arrangements laced with classical avant-garde flourishes has reached a new level of focus, and, resultantly, potency, on Jackrabbit.”Exclaim

San Fermin have expanded their 2015 North American tour with dates supporting alt-J this July and fall. The 8-piece band, led by Ellis Ludwig-Leone, will perform songs off their sophomore album Jackrabbit (out now, Downtown Records / Fontana North), which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and earned praise by NPR Music for its “grittier energy”. Rolling Stone called the band “masters of highbrow chamber pop” and praised “tag-team singers Charlene Kaye and Allen Tate [who] flaunt killer instruments.” Of San Fermin’s recent sold-out Music Hall of Williamsburg show, The Village Voice raved, “Behold the new Arcade Fire: They are San Fermin.”

Kaiser Chiefs Announce New North American Tour Dates

After more than ten years, four albums, platinum record sales, a volley of top ten singles and three Brit Awards, it would have been simple for Kaiser Chiefs to sit back and coast a while, to enjoy the warm glow of being one of Britain’s most cherished bands.

But in late 2012 there came a change: the departure of founding member and drummer Nick Hodgson, and thus the album Education, Education, Education & War began out of frustration. But in the days that followed, the sense of neutered creativity gave way to something thrilling and unleashed. By the end of that week, Rix recalls, they had “Nineteen or 20 ideas for songs.” And more importantly, Wilson says, “We had the spark that gave us hope.”

The Bright Light Social Hour New Album ‘Space Is Still the Place’ Out March 10

Austin psychedelic rock outfit The Bright Light Social Hour announces the release of their sophomore album, Space Is Still the Place on March 10, 2015 via MapleMusic Recordings and Frenchkiss Records. The 10-track collection was written, performed, produced and engineered by the band at their home studio in Austin, TX, and mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, TV On The Radio, Future Islands).

The Bright Light Social Hour convened while Curtis Roush and Jack O’Brien attended graduated school together at the University of Texas in Austin. Following graduation, they released their first self-titled LP in 2010. In the months and years that followed, their songs won over their hometown, and they scored an unprecedented six awards at the SXSW 2011 Austin Music Awards.

Space is Still the Place encompasses the idea of a “Future South,” which was developed by the band after touring across the country, heavily in the South, over the last few years. While on the road, the band usually stayed with people in various cities instead of hotels and gained a new perspective on the struggle young Americans faced after experiencing it first-hand.

Hi Res Gogol Bordello
Appearances include TURF, Le Festival d’ete, Ottawa Bluesfest and Osheaga

“For me music is a way to explore human potential. And that’s my main interest in life – human potential. Everyone knows there’s something inside of us that we’re not using. How do we get it? How do we reach it?  Every single person knows that there’s something and nobody knows what it is. So at one point I said to myself, I’m gonna get down and get it.” – Eugene Hutz

Everyone’s favourite gypsy-punks Gogol Bordello, led by the incomparable front man Eugene Hutz, return to eastern Canada with major festival appearances this July and August.

The group has been touring the globe since the release of their sixth album, ‘Pura Vida Conspiracy,’ one year ago, and show no signs of letting up.

New Releases – The Belle Brigade ‘Just Because’ & Various Artists ‘Bob Dylan in the 80s: Volume One’

The Belle Brigade make their MMR debut with their sophomore studio album ‘Just Because’.  The album’s infectious single ‘Ashes’ dropped earlier this year whose video features the crafty sibling duo cut into stop motion.  The California band recently announced a full North American tour supporting Ray LaMontagne as both his backing band and opening act.  Built To Spill, Reggie Watts, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Lucius,  Carl Broemel of My Morning Jacket and many more come together on ‘Bob Dylan in the 80s: Volume One’ which spans 1980′s ‘Saved’ to 1990′s ‘Under The Red Sky’. The tribute album aims to showcase Dylan during an off-peak period and bring a stronger sense of harmony to the material. Portions of proceeds from album sales will go to the charity Pencils of Promise, a non-profit organization that builds schools and increases educational opportunities in the developing world. Listen to Built To Spill’s take on ‘Jokerman’ via Rolling Stone.
