Stereophonics Return To North America With Their Chart Topping UK Album ‘Graffiti On The Train’ Which Will Be Released August 20th
North American Tour Kicks Off This September
One of the most durable and consistently successful bands ever to come out of the U.K. band scene, Stereophonics return to North America August 20th with the release of their chart topping U.K. album ‘Graffiti on the Train‘; their eighth studio album, out on MapleMusic Recordings and their own Stylus Records.
Released earlier this year in the U.K., ‘Graffiti on the Train’ entered the U.K. charts at number 3 and has remained in the Top 20 ever since. Affirming that this is their best album in a decade, the album has quickly gone gold and is well on its way to platinum status.
Written by lead vocalist and guitarist Kelly Jones and produced by Kelly Jones and Jim Lowe, ‘Graffiti on the Train’ is the final piece in the puzzle for a newly refined and cinematic Stereophonics, a band that has London’s Sunday Times calling this album their “least conventional yet”, praising its “newfound lightness of touch” and confirming “The album contains Jones’s best work of his career.”
A storyteller first and foremost Kelly Jones unravels storylines and sketches characters with poetic finesse – inspired by the screenplay he has been working on of the same name, ‘Graffiti On The Train’ is a fascinating, filmic LP unlike anything the group have attempted in the past. Loosely telling the story of two friends who flee the country after a tragic accident, the record is both reflective and surprisingly fragile.
We find Jones at the helm of all the videos from this album, which he has both written and directed including the first North American single, ‘Indian Summer.’ Upon release in the U.K. earlier this year, ‘Indian Summer’marked the band’s 26th Top 40 hit on the U.K. charts.
Having spanned decades of success selling over 9 million career albums and currently sitting at the top of U.K. album charts, this return to the other side of the pond is a tour not to be missed. Their North American tour kicks off in Philadelphia on September 19 at the Theatre of Living Arts. See below for complete tour itinerary. As one of the best live bands imported from the U.K. in the last twenty years, North America will be treated to select tour dates and an Indian Summer to be remembered. At a recent U.K. show, John Earls of the Daily Star noted, “Girls sat on their boyfriends shoulders, Welsh flags were held aloft, beer was thrown everywhere and the singalongs kept coming.”

Play Toronto’s Mod Club With Rogue Wave On June 25th!
On their self-titled sophomore album, Caveman stretch their legs in a number of different, albeit cohesive, directions. Their highly anticipated return will come out exclusively on iTunes on June 25th and will be hitting all other physical and digital stores on July 9th via MapleMusic Recordings.
Caveman -a five-man vibe collective from NYC- released their first album in 2011. As first albums go, CoCo Beware was something akin to a moody statement of intent, a blueprint for a band quickly learning how to create horizon-wide rock songs that were equal parts intimate and expansive. Initially self-released and later snatched up by Fat Possum for re-release in early 2012, the record brims over with four-part harmonies, crystalline guitar lines, and tracks that see-sawed between echoey lullaby (“A Country’s King of Dreams”) to shoegaze-by-way-of classic-FM-radio sprawl (“Old Friend”). The album quickly elevated Caveman from local band to watch to a sizable touring draw and formidable live act, as evidenced by stints on the road with the likes of The War on Drugs, White Rabbits and Built to Spill. Despite being the work of a brand new band, CoCo Beware displayed a kind of Zen-like ease. It was the sound a five
“We all went up to Jimmy’s grandmother’s place in New Hampshire,” says singer Matthew Iwanusa. “That’s where the new record kind of started. It was literally the attic of her barn, lit up by Christmas lights. We’d all sit in this one room together and one by one we’d all go into the bathroom and record ourselves making the most psycho noises possible. It actually felt kind of like a weird breakthrough. We were all confident and comfortable enough with each other to try out these experiments, which extended itself into the making of the new record…which is really just an evolution of this vibe that we’d been cultivating for long time.”
With that, the guys holed up in Brooklyn’s Rumpus Room to start recording in earnest with Nick Stumpf (who produced the band’s debut album) and Albert Di Fiore behind the controls. The album is a kind of sonic microcosm-a series of emotional yet tough mini-narratives operating within the same quixotic musical universe.
As a result, the guitars on Caveman are bigger and more expansive, the rhythm section is tighter and more adventurous, the keyboards more opaque and pronounced. Like a marriage between Tangerine Dream, late period Slowdive, and Lindsey Buckingham, tracks like their new single “In the City” and “Ankles” boast synth lines that sound simultaneously retro and futuristic, while “Pricey” and “Never Want to Know” overflow with guitar sounds that could have miraculously floated off an old Cure album. It should be noted that James Carbonetti, the band’s primary guitar player, also happens to be one of the most highly regarded guitar makers in New York City.
And while Caveman’s music could certainly operate on the level of dreamy soundscape and still be excellent, the depth of feeling in front man Matthew Iwanusa’s lyrics helps weave the songs deeply into your memory. When Iwanusa sings Where’s the time to waste on someone else’s life? on “Where’s the Time,” it’s hard not to read between the lines. Wonder and regret seem to fuel the record in almost equal measure.

San Fermin Announces Debut Self-Titled Album out September 17th on Downtown Records & MapleMusic Recordings

“SONSICK” AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON ITUNES HERE!
Brooklyn musician Ellis Ludwig-Leone, the songwriter and composer behind San Fermin, has announced his signing to Downtown Records and the subsequent release of his self-titled, debut album San Fermin on September 17. Ludwig-Leone, who studied music composition at Yale University, envisioned the album’s concept prior to writing the music or knowing who would perform it. Pulling inspiration from Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, he conceived the album as a dialogue between an earnest, unhappy man and a cynical, elusive woman. Upon Ludwig-Leone’s graduation he traveled to the Canadian Rocky Mountains where he wrote the album over the course of six weeks. “Writing for a group of unknown musicians gave the writing process a kind of operatic scope,” Ludwig-Leone says. On his return he enlisted the help of longtime friend and vocalist Allen Tate as well as female vocalists Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe (Lucius) to give voices to the characters he developed.
A pastiche of post-rock, chamber-pop and contemporary classical composition, San Fermin is strongly influenced by Ludwig-Leone’s unique background in classical music, and the album fittingly features instrumentalists from the likes of Bon Iver, yMusic, and Asphalt Orchestra. A composer of instrumental music as well, Ludwig-Leone recently finished a ballet score for BalletCollective (comprised of New York City Ballet members), to be premiered by ACME at the Joyce Theater this summer, and is currently arranging a piece with Sonic Youth‘s Lee Ranaldo for the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop. He is an assistant to the composer Nico Muhly.

Portland, Oregon’s Typhoon – one of the most talked about new bands – is proud to announce the August 20th release of their new album ‘White Lighter‘ on MapleMusic Recordings and Roll Call Records.
‘White Lighter’ is the follow up to the bands acclaimed EP ‘A New Kind Of House’ that caught the attention of countless music critics and listeners for what NPR’s Bob Boilen calls “absolutely stunning” and “so beautiful, it make’s me want to follow every single thing Typhoon does.”
Recorded at Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, Oregon, Typhoon isolated themselves from outside distractions to arrange and record this collection of songs with an impressive emphasis on storytelling and melody.
“On the farm, we were living inside the record” says songwriter Morton. “I had one place in the woods where I would write and rewrite one song, and a different place for working another. The whole thing was laid out spatially over so many acres. I built a small fort in the wood barn where I kept my books and guitar. Slept a couple feet away from the recording desk. When it was cold, we built wood fires, when it was warm we went swimming down the road. Friends came and went, sometimes recording with us.”
Produced by the band along with their in-house engineer Paul Laxer, Typhoon created a dynamic recording – full of horns, strings and group vocal crescendos – that will establish the band as an immensely creative force.
An inspiring hybrid of literate lyrics and wide ranging pop music – new songs such as first single “Young Fathers,” “Possible Deaths,” “Prosthetic Love” and “Hunger And Thirst” – take listeners on a journey through the experience of having it all, fighting to keep the dream and accepting your fate.
“There are several layers to this new record” says Morton. ”It’s definitely the most autobiographical record I’ve ever done. I’m also trying to reconstitute disparate experiences into something like a meaningful sequence in the pale light of truth.”
Along with Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, NPR, Alternative Press and more, Paste Magazine raves “Music critics throw around adjectives like ‘orchestral’ and ‘expansive’ all the time these days. But here’s a band that actually deserves such labels. Portland’s Typhoon is an indie rock geek’s dream: a dynamic 12-piece with a seemingly unending reservoir of energy, emotive vocals, arpeggiated guitars, horns, multiple drum kits and strings … Ladies and gentlemen, meet your new critical darlings.”
Typhoon spent most of 2011 on the road – sharing the stage with The Decemberists, The Shins & Explosions In The Sky and performing at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Osheaga and the Newport Folk Festival – winning over concertgoers with what KEXP calls an “awe inspiring” live show.
Already confirmed for this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival, Typhoon will set out on a US headlining tour this fall. Stay tuned for more news!

MapleMusic Recordings Welcomes Bo Keeney to the Family with the Release of His Debut EP ‘Don’t You Worry’
’DON’T YOU WORRY’ OUT EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH ITUNES ON MAY 21
AND EVERYWHERE ELSE ON MAY 28
LISTEN TO THE TITLE TRACK ‘DON’T YOU WORRY’ HERE!
‘Don’t You Worry’ is the stunning debut EP from 23 year old newcomer Bo Keeney, based out of the UK. The tunes meld alt soul and contemporary blues with smatterings of drum’n'bass while his honeyed vocals call to mind a young Stevie Wonder. To further compliment his unique sound on the EP, there are two inspired remixes from regular Skream/Magnetic Man collaborator Sam Frank and the much lauded South London art collective Breton.
Bo, named after his parents favourite guitarist, is a multi instrumentalist and music obsessive who grew up in Southern California and got his first introduction to music when his father took him down to see his mother’s band play at age four. His mother was a hair stylist by day, and a guitarist by night who hung out with the likes of Kiss, Van Halen and Guns ‘n’ Roses (her voice can be heard peforming backing vocal duties on ‘Don’t You Worry’).
When he turned eleven the family relocated from San Diego to Winchester in England. Soon after, Bo wrote his first song and then saved up his lunch money, bought a guitar and taught himself to play. He became fascinated with instruments and went on to learn the bass, the guitar and piano by sneaking into the music room at school and practicing on his own for hours.
Aged sixteen Bo entered the British Academy of Songwriters and Composers under 18′s competition. Rather than sending in the standard one song – he sent an album’s worth of self-recorded material and he won. Bo went on to co-write with Grammy winning songwriter Jimmy Hogarth who would eventually offer him a publishing deal.
With his advance, Bo rented a shipping container in Winchester, turned it into a studio and recorded his EP in near isolation. The resulting songs are written, arranged and produced by Bo.

Gogol Bordello Set to Release New Album ‘Pura Vida Conspiracy’ July 23rd on ATO Records & Maplemusic Recordings
Internationally renowned gypsy punk rock group Gogol Bordello return with their sixth full-length album Pura Vida Conspiracy via ATO Records and MapleMusic Recordings on July 23. Produced by Andrew Sheps, the new album was recorded in El Paso, Texas at Sonic Ranch Studios and is a powerful collection of 12 surging new songs. In celebration of May Day, an ancient public holiday known for raucous celebrations, Gogol Bordello offer up a stream of their rebellious new song “Malandrino” to get the party started.
LISTEN TO MALANDRINO HERE!
The album’s title is derived from a Spanish slang phrase for “pure life,” which is a theme that resonates throughout the new material. The disc’s opener, “We Rise Again,” introduces the album’s limitless, all-embracing themes instantly, centered on a chorus of “Borders are scars on face of the planet.” The new songs are infused with ideas rooted in Eastern philosophy but also search for a means of joining fragmented parts and persons, and of creating a worldwide consciousness.
“For me music is a way to explore human potential,” Hutz says. “And that’s my main interest in life – human potential. Everyone knows there’s something inside of us that we’re not using. How do we get it? How do we reach it? Every single person knows that there’s something and nobody knows what it is. So at one point I said to myself, I’m gonna get down and get it.”
Gogol Bordello has spent the last decade getting down with that energy through their meteoric live shows and has earned a solid reputation as “the hottest global touring act to come out of New York (Billboard)” and “the world’s most riotous live band (Rolling Stone).” Their wildly energetic live shows are celebrated by fans worldwide and have brought them to nearly every corner of the globe and to the main stage of festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Roskilde, Rock am Ring, Reading and Leeds to name just a few. In addition, Gogol Bordello’s recordings have earned them critical acclaim worldwide and have attracted some of the most respected collaborators and producers including 2005′s Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike, produced by indie legend Steve Albini, 2007′s SUPER TARANTA! (produced by Victor Van Vugt) and declared by music critic Robert Christgau as “the best rock album of the decade. Period.” and 2010′s Trans-Continental Hustle produced by Rick Rubin.
Gogol Bordello will return to the US in May for select dates on their first club tour since May 2012 and will be performing at major music festivals around the globe this summer.
Coming extremely soon after the release of his latest full-length “What We Want” in February, Thomas D’Arcy is already putting out new material. The “I Wake Up Every Day EP” is the latest 5-track set meant to accompany the video release of single “I Wake Up Every Day”.
Andrew Wyatt, the front man of powerhouse electronic pop band Miike Snow, has released his first solo album, Descender, on Downtown Records and MapleMusic Recordings today. Descender is a 32-minute meditation into the darker side of the grammy-nominated artist. A mixture of whimsical chamber-pop and intricate soundscapes, the album’s sound is largely defined by the lush majesty of Prague’s 75-piece Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Adam Klemens. Featuring cameos from Anthony Rossomando of The Libertines, Brad Traux (formerly of Interpol) and John Herndon of Tortoise, Descender mixes sweeping string arrangements with Wyatt’s vulnerable, haunting vocals, marking the first time the acclaimed songwriter has written, orchestrated and produced an entire album completely on his own.
You can watch the Descender documentary directed by Sebastian Mlynarkski to take a deeper look into the unique album writing and recording process Here.
