Gogol Bordello Return To Canada For Summer Festival Dates

Hi Res Gogol Bordello
Appearances include TURF, Le Festival d’ete, Ottawa Bluesfest and Osheaga

“For me music is a way to explore human potential. And that’s my main interest in life – human potential. Everyone knows there’s something inside of us that we’re not using. How do we get it? How do we reach it?  Every single person knows that there’s something and nobody knows what it is. So at one point I said to myself, I’m gonna get down and get it.” – Eugene Hutz

Everyone’s favourite gypsy-punks Gogol Bordello, led by the incomparable front man Eugene Hutz, return to eastern Canada with major festival appearances this July and August.

The group has been touring the globe since the release of their sixth album, ‘Pura Vida Conspiracy,’ one year ago, and show no signs of letting up.

Winnipeg label/management company Pipe & Hat nominated for Best Indie Label at 2014 WCMAs

MapleMusic Recordings is excited to announce a joint services deal with Pipe & Hat, the Winnipeg-based label/artist management company/recording studio.

With a growing roster that includes the acclaimed guitar-pop outfit Fast Romantics, and alt-country chanteuse Jess Reimer, Pipe & Hat recently earned a Best Indie Label nomination for the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards to be handed out Oct. 5.

Both of these acts will showcase at this year’s North By Northeast Festival in Toronto, with Jess Reimer previewing tracks from upcoming LP, ‘The Nightjar & The Garden.’

Tony Tarleton, general manager of MapleMusic Recordings and Fontana North Label and Artist Services, says, “In recognizing Pipe & Hat’s five years of being in business, it was only natural for us to look for an opportunity as their distribution partner in Canada, to help them grow their business for the next five years and beyond. By leaning in together sharing services and expertise, we feel we can accomplish that goal. We see Jess Reimer’s stunning new record as the perfect jump-off point.”

Tim Jones, founder of Pipe & Hat and head of label relations and artist development, says, “We’ve come a long way in five years, but still have a lot further to go. Our relationship with MapleMusic/Fontana North has been a wonderful one full of success, and we anticipate that delving deeper into that partnership will allow us to expand our brand and our reach like never before. The team at MapleCore share our true love of music, and we’re proud to be releasing Jess Reimer’s new record, a true work of art, as our first release in this new joint services commitment.”

Andrew Austin Pays Tribute to Dads For Father’s Day With New Video for ‘To Love Like This Again’

Zyo4KUuMkPYHit6wfqkYzWrGkQjYyFAKL2lyCiAusK8

Andrew Austin’s reputation as one of Canada’s most dynamic singer/songwriters keeps growing. Having recently wowed audiences in Toronto with two Canadian Music Week showcases, and reached living rooms coast to coast on Canada AM, Austin has produced a timely video for ‘To Love Like This Again,’ the lead-off track from his acclaimed debut album ‘While It’s Still Light Out.’

The song lent itself perfectly to Austin’s idea to pay tribute to fathers, especially those like him who are taking a more active role in raising their children. “The gender norm is changing and it’s awesome,” Austin says. “More and more, real world fathers are engaged, involved, and doting. They’re taking paternity leave and taking over more domestic duties. They are involved in their kids’ lives and proud of it. Everyone’s lives are enriched by this.”

Austin adds that his goal with the video is to put some of these images in the mainstream media to show that modern dads are more than just caring playmates. They can attend to a child’s needs just as well as Mom. The opening frame is a photo of Andrew as a baby with his father, which segues into a shot of Andrew with his child. From there, many more young dads are featured.

Upcoming Dates
Thursday June 5 — Toronto ON — Drake Hotel 8:30PM (w/ Scarlett Jane)
