Mas Ysa today shares ‘Gun‘ – a new track from his highly anticipated debut album’ Seraph,’ out July 24th via MapleMusic Recordings and Downtown Records. Mas Ysa, the creation of musician Thomas Arsenault, embraces cutting-edge electronic music, but owes plenty to his traditional song-writing skills. It is the entirety of this spectrum that is apparent on ‘Seraph.’ His new single ‘Gun’ features Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters. Of the track, Arsenault says “Gun’s a duet. I wanted the other side of the story told and not just mine. I’d written it originally with just the male perspective and it felt a bit unsatisfying, so I brought the subject into the song. That was cathartic.”

Canadian Dates In BC and Alberta - Festival Stops At NXNE And Osheaga
“…a bigger, bolder and, yes, even better album than San Fermin’s debut…a glorious second effort…” – CBC Music
“Under the careful stewardship of mastermind Ellis Ludwig-Leone, Brooklyn’s San Fermin has become a ferocious, precise vessel…His predilection for marrying sublime pop melodies to bombastic arrangements laced with classical avant-garde flourishes has reached a new level of focus, and, resultantly, potency, on Jackrabbit.” – Exclaim
San Fermin have expanded their 2015 North American tour with dates supporting alt-J this July and fall. The 8-piece band, led by Ellis Ludwig-Leone, will perform songs off their sophomore album Jackrabbit (out now, Downtown Records / Fontana North), which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and earned praise by NPR Music for its “grittier energy”. LA producer, songwriter and DJ Goldroom releases his new EP ‘It’s Like You Never Went Away‘ via Downtown Records and Fontana North today. The four song EP was produced by Goldroom and features collaborations with rising female vocalists including Australian soul-pop star George Maple, Chela, Kayslee Collins and Nikki Segal. The music will roll out this week via a series of videos premiering exclusively on Snapchat Discover, making ‘It’s Like You Never Went Away,’ the first EP to debut on the platform. The videos will be released consecutively over four days, collectively telling a story.
Drawing unexpected songwriting inspiration from artists like Tom Petty and Ryan Adams, Goldroom turned to Southern California to create his nostalgic sound. He originally wrote the four tracks on an acoustic guitar before recording them in studio, giving the EP a melodic, effortless feel. Goldroom has produced an EP that’s a perfect antidote to the fist-pumping, club-centric culture that many associate with the genre. He’s captured the chill vibes of summertime in LA, infusing them with tropical textures. The first single ‘Embrace‘ layers George Maple’s emotive vocals on top of the dreamy synth-pop track, creating an anthemic summertime song. Kayslee Collins teams up with Goldroom on the breezy ‘Tradewinds‘, while Nikki Segal adds her airy vocals to the beat-heavy ‘California Rain.’ On ‘Fifteen,’ Chela’s celestial voice accompanies Goldroom’s soulful, nostalgic pop.
Goldroom (aka Josh Legg) has garnered praise from Pitchfork, Fader, MTV, The Guardian (Band of the Week) and more, also earning ‘most blogged about’ honors on Hype Machine. He’s toured extensively, playing a range of festivals from SXSW and Firefly to EDM gatherings like Ultra Music Festival. Dubbed “one of Los Angeles’ dance music tastemakers” by Billboard, he’ll play several North American festival dates this summer with his live four-piece band, including resident singer Nikki Segal.

Mas Ysa, the creation of musician Thomas Arsenault, will be releasing his long awaited full-length debut, ‘Seraph’ on July 24 via MapleMusic Recordings..
Creating ‘Seraph’ took the better part of a year – it was crafted in Arsenault’s home studio, received additional production help from Steve Rivette (Liars, Black Dice) and was mixed by Grammy-nominated Damian Taylor (Bjork, Arcade Fire). ’Seraph’ isn’t electronic music only for the club or dance floor, it’s electronic music for the heart. “This is personal,” Arsenault says. And while Mas Ysa displays Arsenault’s unabashed love of electronic music, and ‘Seraph’ puts forward a collection of songs that have made their creator a hit on dance floors across the world, what Arsenault says is important isn’t just the beats. “To me,” he says, “the truth just sounds different.”
New Release: The River And The Road ‘Headlights’, Rhett Miller ‘The Traveler’, Mas Ysa ‘Margarita’ & Ex Cops ‘Black Soap (Eli Escobar Remix)’
The River And The Road’s new 10 track album ‘Headlights‘ is at times a bold step away from the acoustic songwriting that initially drove them, a change that can be likened to the evolution of their live performances. 2015 will see the band’s sights set firmly on the road, including a cross-Canada tour in support of the album and a summer festival schedule including Squamish Valley Music Festival, RiverFest in Elora, Ontario and TURF in Toronto. Rhett Miller’s (the lead singer of boozy raucous rockers The Old 97s) new solo album ‘The Traveler‘ is available now! ‘The Traveler‘ showcases a relentless and seemingly ageless songwriter honed by years on the road with the help of Black Prairie (a band that shares members of The Decemberists) and producer Chris Funk. Mas Ysa has shared his second new track since the Worth EP, listen to the tropical jam ‘Margarita‘ below and hear his other recent song ‘Look Up‘ here.
Penguin Prison‘s dance-party-jam-packed sophomore album Lost In New York is available today! Lead single ‘Try To Lose’ was described by Kick Kick Snare as ”the effortlessly smooth track is the perfect jump start to spring. The perfect balance of crisp wintery melancholic lyrics and a bright infectious sounds saturated by his now signature guitar licks.” Taste test the album with the official album sampler on YouTube HERE. Rituals, the Oklahoma band Other Lives’ third and latest full-length album, is a pure encapsulation of the trio’s relentless drive for precision. “It’s more dimensional, it’s more 3-D, if you will,” Tabish explains. “We wanted a cleaner, brighter record with more movement and more color.” The band are currently touring in support of the record with dates hitting Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal in May. Watch the official video for ‘Reconfiguration’ on the band’s YouTube HERE.
Great songwriters don’t come around that often. Amos is an exceptional artist, a true story teller, unique to his generation.” – Willie Nelson
