Jessica Lea Mayfield Shares New Track ‘Oblivious’ – Third LP ‘Make My Head Sing…’ Out April 15
MapleMusic Recordings and ATO Records are excited to share this preview of Jessica Lea Mayfield‘s latest LP, ‘Make My Head Sing…’ set for release April 15th.
As the trippy, distorted sound of ‘Oblivious’ displays, the singer/guitarist consciously takes a heavier turn on the new album, which she co-produced at Nashville’s Club Roar Studio with bassist, collaborator, and husband, Jesse Newport.
“My guitar amps were so loud when we recorded this that it made me feel nauseous,” is how Mayfield recently described ‘Oblivious’ to Rolling Stone. “Bands are so big these days. I wanted to get the studio and make a rock record and hear real guitar tones and something heavy.”
‘Make My Head Sing…’ is the follow-up to Mayfield’s acclaimed 2011 album ‘Tell Me,’ which was produced by the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. Auerbach also produced Mayfield’s debut ‘With Blasphemy So Heartfelt,‘ which Blurt Magazine named the Best Album of 2008. Mayfield also provided guest vocals on the Black Keys’ ‘Attack & Release’ album, as well as on Auerbach’s solo album, ‘Keep It Hid.’
Details of Mayfield’s upcoming nationwide tour to support the album will be announced soon. Ahead of the LP’s release, she will make a one-off appearance supporting Tegan and Sara at Cleveland’s Masonic Auditorium on February 7th, followed by sets at SXSW in Austin in mid-March.
