Maureen’s Favourite Albums of 2013
The last week of our Best of 2013 staff lists (and the last week before Christmas!) kicks off with the Top 5 Albums in no particular order from our cat-loving Maureen Spillane, Marketing Manager at MapleMusic Recordings & Fontana North. She’s included the 5 tracks that made her year below, also in no particular order.
Ta-ku – Do What You Love Vampire Weekend – Modern Vampires of the City
Daft Punk – Random Access Memories J. Roddy Walston & The Bizzynatch – Essential Tremors
Disclosure – Settle
There is something incredibly nostalgic about this album. Disclosure have taken the best elements from the last 25 years of dance music and incorporated them into a fresh and vibrant album from start to finish. In just over an hour of head-nodding cuts, we hear Disclosure’s nod to Detroit Techno, Acid House, and breakbeat, yet their hard-hitting hooks, vocals laid down by up-and-coming singers, and a cross-section of polished beats, make this record distinct, one-of-a-kind, and supremely relevant for today’s electronic music lover.
Instantly classic, and one kick-ass beckoning to the dance floor.
