PRE-ORDER ‘A HISTORY OF REASONS’ ON ITUNES
Toronto’s CAIRO are making their full-length debut next week with ‘A History of Reasons’. The album is set for release on digital, CD and vinyl formats January 20, 2015. The publication praised several cuts from the album:
“Sparkling indie pop numbers like “With You” are juxtaposed with quieter, folk-inspired numbers like “Render,” “Starry Eyes” and “Seventeen.” Others like “Kingdoms” and “Extinguishing Fires” lean towards good, old-fashioned rock’n'roll, making for an album that delivers a seamless blend of different sounds.”

SELF-TITLED RECORD DUE MARCH 3
PREVIEW NEW SINGLE “JUST LIKE YOU” VIA ROLLING STONE COUNTRY HERE
The new self-titled record from acclaimed singer, songwriter and performer Gill Landry will be released March 3 on MapleMusic Recordings and ATO Records. Landry’s illustrious career as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriting member of the Grammy-Award winning band Old Crow Medicine Show includes a recent induction into the Grand Ole Opry, performances on “A Prairie Home Companion” & “Austin City Limits,” and world tours with featured stops at major festivals including Bonnaroo, Coachella, and the Newport Folk Festival.
The 10-track album was fully produced and mostly engineered by Landry and recorded in what he calls, “a ramshackle, shanty-ass apartment on the south side of Nashville.” Contributors include various friends and musicians Landry gathered on his non-stop travels alone and with Old Crow including songstress Laura Marling who duets on “Take This Body,” singer-songwriter and guitarist Robert Ellis, trumpeter Nick Etwell of Mumford & Sons and Odessa Jorgensen who lends harmonies and fiddle to a number of tunes. Watch/Listen to ‘The Eye’ HERE
Brandi Carlile will make her independent label debut on ATO/MapleMusic March 3, 2015 with the release of ‘The Firewatcher’s Daughter.’ The 12-song album explodes with energy, urgency and pristine harmonies and represents the start of a fresh chapter for Carlile and her longtime collaborators Tim and Phil Hanseroth, also known as “The Twins.”
‘The Firewatcher’s Daughter’ was recorded almost entirely as first takes without any demoing and little rehearsal before gathering at Bear Creek Studio in Washington State.
The result is immediate and electrifying. ‘The Eye,’ a song influenced by Crosby, Stills and Nash, is so intimate and hushed you can hear the quiver of Brandi’s voice in a flawless 3-part harmony. Lead-off track and first single ‘Wherever Is Your Heart’ captures a fiery intensity.

“On Wonderkind, a richly layered, poppy effort that blends prog rock and classical elements, she made her electric guitar debut. You can’t help but be reminded of fellow guitar virtuoso St. Vincent’s latest release, and even neo-folkie Mutual Benefit when the languid strings kick in.”
– Julia LeConte, NOW Magazine

Language Arts is the brainchild of Toronto-based guitarist, composer and singer Kristen Cudmore. “Language Arts’ sound is really a marriage between jazz schoolers and me, the classically trained one … I attract it without realizing it,” Cudmore says about her bandmates, drummer Neil MacIntosh, keyboardist Joel Visentin and current bassist Soren Nissen (Joe Ernewein played bass in the studio)
The group’s new full-length album ‘Wonderkind,’ recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Darryl Neudorf (Neko Case, Sarah McLachlan), brilliantly marries Cudmore’s raw emotions with a dizzying array of musical styles — indie pop, hip-hop and prog-rock among them — all drawn from her boundless imagination that has become equally innovative and uplifting.

Ex Cops, the Brooklyn-based duo comprised of Amalie Bruun and Brian Harding, recently released their sophomore LP, Daggers, and the video for its latest single, ‘White Noise,’ premiered exclusively today at Paper Magazine.
The band describes the video’s concept as, “almost like a social experiment. The song is about longing for something pure in a dark place, and about the wish to silence the noise of the world and the voices in your head. So we wanted to have teenagers in our video, because kids are more pure than most grownups. And we wanted them to just dance and fight and lose it and do whatever they felt like, while we performed the song for them.”
