As more and more radio stations add ‘Gold,’ the mesmerizing single from his full-length debut ‘Built On Glass,’ Australian electro-soul artist Chet Faker is treating his fans to the ‘iTunes Session’ EP, available starting Friday, Nov. 28.

The EP’s six tracks include a solo piano version of ‘Gold,’ and ‘I’m Into You’ from his 2012 debut EP ‘Thinking In Textures.’ Full track list is below.

Born Nicholas Murphy, his Chet Faker persona came to life in 2011 when his cover of Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’ became a sensation Down Under and landed him a North American deal with Downtown Records/Fontana North the following year.

Since the release of ‘Built On Glass’ in April 2014, Chet Faker has been to Canada twice as part of his extensive world touring, consistently growing his audience through his gripping live show.

Stereophonics make their MMR debut with the band’s 8th studio record “Graffiti On The Train”. The newly refined and cinematic Stereophonics features strings arranged by famed James Bond composer David Arnold and is produced by Jim Lowe. Catch them during their fall tour when they hit Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall September 25th. Will Sheff shares his autobiography on Okkervil River’s latest “The Silver Gymnasium”. The John Agnello-produced 11 songs take place in the small town of Meriden, New Hampshire in 1986 which Sheff has detailed in the interactive map made by NPR. Brooklyn’s post-punk newcomers Butter The Children revisit the ghosts of classic punk on “True Crime”. The EP is the stuff the best punk is made of: a sugary dose of loud guitars, muscular bass, tsunami drums and morose lyrics about dejected wanderers. Chet Faker’s hard to come by 2012 debut EP “Thinking In Textures” has been reissued on vinyl ahead of his upcoming album later this year.

MapleMusic Recordings Welcomes Andrew Austin Into The Fold With The Release Of “While It’s Still Light Out”

Pre-Order ‘While It’s Still Light Out’ Via iTunes HERE

MapleCore is thrilled to announce that Andrew Austin will be joining the MapleMusic Recordings family with the October 8th release of his new album “While It’s Still Light Out.”

The Toronto-by-way-of-Sarnia singer-songwriter recruited the legendary producer David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals, We Are Augustines) to help carve out the sound he has been cultivating for years.   Recorded in Newfeld’s Dobbstown Haunted Church studio, the process was so involved and intense that Austin ended up living out of the adjoining Priest’s House for a period of time.

Boasting a talent that can thread lines between Paul Simon‘s minimalist folk and Patrick Watson‘s anthemic exploits – Andrew has captured the emotional, surreal and reflective undertones that bleed throughout his live performances.   With songs that evoke romance like “Beautiful Bones” or the reflective and wistful “If It Ain’t This Town,” Andrew is pushing the limits of the singer/songwriter genre and proving that his musical chops are a force to be reckoned with.

While his name may be new to some, his voice may be familiar.  Andrew’s colourful past includes being the bandleader for Andy Kim, being a part of a Beatles tribute act – and more recognizably as the voice behind Tim Horton’s “It’s Time For Tims” and Alexander Keith’s “Toast This Life” campaigns.  The latter ended up charting in the top 10 on ITunes and has achieved over 100,000 hits on Youtube and counting. You can listen to the “Toast This Life” tune HERE.

‘While It’s Still Light Out’ Tracklisting
1. To Love Like This Again
2. Inside Out
3. Thousand Eyelids
4. If It Ain’t This Town
5. Sending Out A Message
6. Disappear
7. Missile Under My Bed
8. Cheap Motel
9. Here Comes The River
10. Beautiful Bones
11. If This Is Your Love
12. The Night

The massive 12-piece Typhoon have released their equally huge debut record “White Lighter”. The Portland band retreated to the isolation of Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley, Oregon and recorded strings, horns and group vocals free of outside distractions. Following the band’s acclaimed EP “A New Kind of House” that caught attention for its inspiring hybrid of literate lyrics and wide ranging pop music. Typhoon’s North American tour runs September through October and will be hitting Toronto September 24th at the Garrison, full tour dates here.

New York’s Caveman released their self-titled sophomore record earlier this year in the US and it is out now via their new Canadian home MMR. The melodic, melancholic guitar swells and passionately delivered vocal lines make for an album that’s very pleasing to vibe with. I caught them on the Toronto date of their tour with Rogue Wave and the record is reproduced beautifully live.

Typhoon is excited to premiere the first single “Young Fathers” from their anticipated new album “White Lighter.”

“White Lighter” – out August 20th – is the follow up to the band’s EP A New Kind Of House that caught the attention of countless music critics and listeners for its inspiring hybrid of literate lyrics and wide ranging pop music.

Typhoon will head out on a North America headlining tour beginning September 5th in their hometown of Portland, OR. This six-week tour will include performances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Pop Montreal and Music Fest NW, along with stops in New York, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Tour dates below.

What makes these songs so great is the sense of borrowed time and urgency. A series of events suffered from a bug bite - failed organs, life spared thanks to modern medicine and a kidney given to him by his father - Kyle Morton, the band’s lead singer and songwriter, channeled his emotions into songwriting to create this big-hearted sound that bursts with a raw emotion and energy. The end result is a remarkably powerful and beautiful collection of songs.

“When we started working on White Lighter, I had reason to believe that it would be the last thing I ever did,” says Kyle. “It is now six months since we finished. I’m still here and there’s still work to be done.”
