Autre Ne Veut Set To Release ‘Age Of Transparency’ On October 2, 2015

Arthur Ashin, a.k.a. Autre Ne Veut, announces the release of  ’Age of Transparency,’ a genre-bending album that manipulates and fuses jazz, electronic and alternative elements.  It will be released on October 2, 2015 via Downtown Records and Fontana North.

He also shares the video for lead single, ‘World War Pt. 2.’ (directed by BANGS, a.k.a Allie Avital). Citing Michael Haneke films Funny Games and Amour, where “the horrific and grotesque emerge from mundane, sunlight environments,” as inspirations, Avital says Ashin and she aimed to create “a metaphor for the many burdens we carry with us.”

‘Age of Transparency’ marks the second step in a trilogy exploring the difficulty of making personal connections in an impersonal time. “The title comes from marketing jargon,” Ashin explains.”It’s a term for the place we’re in now, where truth and transparency are just ways to sell things and honesty is its own kind of performance.” Coming from an artist who pushes his voice and body to their breaking points, it might seem like a strange admission. But for Ashin, close is as close as you can get.”Transparency is an impossibility,” he says. “It’s more about trying to be transparent and falling on your face in the process.”

Pre-Order ‘Seraph’ Via iTunes HERE

Today, Mas Ysa shares a new track ‘Arrows,’ an emotional club-banger from his upcoming debut album ‘Seraph,’ out July 24 on MapleMusic Recordings.

Mas Ysa, otherwise known as Thomas Arsenault, says of the track: “‘Arrows’ is sort of a Euro club banger, but also a very personal love song. It comes out of me wanting to make a universal, club-ready track but unwittingly giving into emotion.”

Creating ’Seraph’ took the better part of a year – it was crafted in Arsenault’s home studio, received additional production help from Steve Rivette (Liars, Black Dice) and was mixed by Grammy-nominated Damian Taylor (Björk, Arcade Fire) – but the topics it covers have been haunting the musician for his entire life. “Thematically, there’s a lot of Catholic guilt and shame,” he says of the album, which is named for a kind of angel.  “I don’t set out to use specific sounds, but looking later at the pallet of choirs, clapping, castanets, flutes – I’ve realized that they are just comforting to me. I think that comes from going to church and coming from very large and close Ecuadorian and French-Canadian families. I don’t actively reference any culture’s sound or instruments, when I noticed later they were all over the place.”

Lucero Announce New Album ‘All A Man Should Do’ Set For A September 18 Release

k05a0964

On September 18, Lucero will release their new record ‘All A Man Should Do‘ via ATO Records and MapleMusic Recordings.  Following the release of 2012′s ‘Women and Work,’ Lucero’s new album contains some of the most resonant lyrics Ben Nichols has ever written. They read like chapters from his life: the duality of relationships, getting older, finding where you want to be in this world and more.

Working with producer Ted Hutt (Old Crow Medicine Show, Flogging Molly) for a third time at Memphis‘s Ardent Studios, the band felt comfortable enough to take some chances with a palette of new tones that sound understated yet powerful, bringing life to the stories behind the lyrics without overshadowing them.  And for the first time they put a cover song on a record, with a full band version of Big Star‘s ‘I Fell in Love with a Girl.’  The track features Jody Stephens from Big Star singing back-up vocals, making it that much more special.

Mas Ysa today shares ‘Gun‘ – a new track from his highly anticipated debut album’ Seraph,’ out July 24th via MapleMusic Recordings and Downtown Records.  Mas Ysa, the creation of musician Thomas Arsenault, embraces cutting-edge electronic music, but owes plenty to his traditional song-writing skills.  It is the entirety of this spectrum that  is apparent on ‘Seraph.’ His new single ‘Gun’ features Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters.  Of the track, Arsenault says “Gun’s a duet. I wanted the other side of the story told and not just mine. I’d written it originally with just the male perspective and it felt a bit unsatisfying, so I brought the subject into the song. That was cathartic.”

It is with great enthusiasm that MapleMusic Recordings announces Mas Ysa‘s [pronounced MAAS ee-sa] first live appearances of 2015 – it will be an extensive tour that will find him supporting Young Fathers through April and in to May. In anticipation of these shows and the changing  season; Mas Ysa (otherwise known as the Montreal-born visionary pop auteur Thomas Arsenault) is eager to share a new track for the Spring: ‘Look Up.’

‘Look Up’ may seem familiar to those who spent time with last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Worth‘ EP: it’s chordal seeds were set in the short instrumental track ‘Yes‘.  In 2014, Mas Ysa took his rig on the road, touring the country with Delorean, EMA and Hundred Waters through appearances at a number of festivals both domestic and overseas. On the stages of SXSW, Primavera Sound, The Pitchfork Music Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest, Hopscotch, NOS Primavera Sound and Splendor In The Grass, ‘Look Up’ remained a live staple and fan favorite.
