JP Hoe will be releasing his anticipated new full-length album ‘Hideaway‘ on August 21 via MapleMusic Recordings. Recorded in Winnipeg, the 10-track record was produced by Dana Matyas (Imaginary Cities), mastered by João Carvalho (City & Colour, Serena Ryder, Sloan) and features Andy Stochanksy as co-writer on four tracks – including the first single ‘Beautifully Crazy.‘
The record follows Hoe’s highly praised ‘Mannequin‘, which was released in 2012. In fact, three songs from that album have been re-recorded and are available on the digital deluxe version of ‘Hideaway.’ Of the album, the six time Western Canadian Music Award nominated Hoe comments, “I loved making this record, from the song-writing to the final master. Some of these songs have such a profound meaning to me, I can still get lost in them when played live. I sincerely hope they connect with people as much as they were intended to.”
Hoe has an exceptional gift for crafting songs and his generous, spacious voice showcases his raw talent. He has spent hundreds of days on the road, playing gigs all over the world – and the constant consistent is how he connects with audiences via his down-to-earth unpretentious charm.

Mas Ysa today shares ‘Gun‘ — a new track from his highly anticipated debut album’ Seraph,’ out July 24th via MapleMusic Recordings and Downtown Records. Mas Ysa, the creation of musician Thomas Arsenault, embraces cutting-edge electronic music, but owes plenty to his traditional song-writing skills. It is the entirety of this spectrum that is apparent on ‘Seraph.’ His new single ‘Gun’ features Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters. Of the track, Arsenault says “Gun’s a duet. I wanted the other side of the story told and not just mine. I’d written it originally with just the male perspective and it felt a bit unsatisfying, so I brought the subject into the song. That was cathartic.”

Mas Ysa, the creation of musician Thomas Arsenault, will be releasing his long awaited full-length debut, ‘Seraph’ on July 24 via MapleMusic Recordings..
Creating ‘Seraph’ took the better part of a year – it was crafted in Arsenault’s home studio, received additional production help from Steve Rivette (Liars, Black Dice) and was mixed by Grammy-nominated Damian Taylor (Bjork, Arcade Fire). ‘Seraph’ isn’t electronic music only for the club or dance floor, it’s electronic music for the heart. “This is personal,” Arsenault says. And while Mas Ysa displays Arsenault’s unabashed love of electronic music, and ‘Seraph’ puts forward a collection of songs that have made their creator a hit on dance floors across the world, what Arsenault says is important isn’t just the beats. “To me,” he says, “the truth just sounds different.”

‘Look Up’ may seem familiar to those who spent time with last year’s critically acclaimed ‘Worth‘ EP: it’s chordal seeds were set in the short instrumental track ‘Yes‘. On the stages of SXSW, Primavera Sound, The Pitchfork Music Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest, Hopscotch, NOS Primavera Sound and Splendor In The Grass, ‘Look Up’ remained a live staple and fan favorite.

Pre-order ‘Headlights’ HERE
MapleMusic Recordings is proud to announce its latest signing, the Vancouver based folk rockers The River and The Road, who will be releasing their sophomore album ‘Headlights‘ on May 12, 2015. Produced and mixed by Jamey Koch (The Tragically Hip, Ron Sexsmith), the album was recorded in both Vancouver and Toronto.
‘Headlights‘ is at times a bold step away from the acoustic songwriting that initially drove them, a change that can be likened to the evolution of their live performances. What has become clear is that The River and The Road is a band that defies definition and is willing to take chances. The album hums with a mosaic of harmonies and has a fluidity that is reminiscent of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Ryan Adams. From the dazzling complexity of their ballad ‘Coulee (The Prairie Song),’ to the foot stompin’, head noddin’ ‘Child With A Gun’, to their infectious ‘Strange Disease‘ – this is one addictive and enduring record.

In their new video for ‘Falling Awake,’ the Kaiser Chiefs give viewers a first-hand look at what it is like to perform your heart out to an arena-sized crowd, sign autographs for fans, dance backstage or even pose with the ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue in Rio de Janeiro. The band’s friend Danny North filmed the video during their recent South American Stadium tour with the Foo Fighters and the band’s UK arena tour in January and February, including sold out shows at London’s O2 and First Direct Arena in Leeds.
‘Falling Awake’, now released as a digital single, was written during sessions for the band’s last album ‘Education, Education, Education & War,’ recorded at Sarm Studios in London on October 2014. Produced by Ben H. Allen III (Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley). In April, the band will return to North America for a headline tour with a run of Festival and outdoor shows planned for the summer.
Bop English – AKA White Denim’s James Petralli – Debuts New Single ‘Sentimental Wilderness’ Announces Spring Tour & Album Pre-order
Pre-Order ‘Constant Bop’ Via iTunes HERE
Today marks the release of ‘Sentimental Wilderness‘, the second single from Bop English, the recording name of White Denim frontman James Petralli. ‘Sentimental Wilderness’ picks up right where ‘Dani’s Blues (It Was Beyond Our Control)‘ leaves off, a rollicking track that features thoughtful guitar leads and melodic synths that fit seamlessly over a soundscape that is very much timelessly rock & roll-oriented. Bop English also made the pre-order for their highly anticipated debut album ‘Constant Bop‘ (due out April 14th via Downtown Records and Fontana North) live today and announced the dates for their first North American tour.
The ten tracks James decided on for the record demonstrate an encyclopedic knowledge of songwriting, revisiting everything from Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne to LL Cool J and Santana for inspiration. Despite the fact that Constant Bop is full of disparate influences, under the spell of James Petralli it all makes for an incredibly coherent album. It’s a rich and diverse record that’s teeming with pop classicism and zippy rock ‘n’ roll. There are layers upon layers to explore on Constant Bop, with a serious attention to detail being applied to every track. Scrupulous and ever diligent, there’s a ton to unwrap on ‘Constant Bop,’ a record that jumps from vocoder use on a ’60s-jazz influenced jam to sampled 808-kicks on country numbers. It’s all there, and it’s all distinctly James Petralli.

They gave their new single, “Don’t Wanna Fight,” its network television premiere on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. They also performed “Gimme All Your Love,” another track from the band’s new album’Sound & Color’ which ATO Records and MapleMusic Recordings will release on April 21.
New York-based producer/songwriter/DJ Penguin Prison (aka Chris Glover) has premiered his new single ‘Never Gets Old‘ off of his upcoming sophomore album ‘Lost In New York’ which is set to be released on May 5 via Downtown Records and Fontana North.
Co-written with Amanda Warner and Peter Wade of the electronic duo MNDR, the song “features a driving bass line that feels like you’re driving 100 MPH inside a video game with 90’s grunge distorted guitar stabs,” says Chris. “The brand new thing isn’t always better than what you’ve been using for many years. This song is dedicated to everything that never goes out of style that you can do a million times and never get tired of.”
