It’s a rare and beautiful thing when a band emerges fully formed, but it makes perfect sense in the case of guitarist Daniel Hindman and keyboardist Sarah Versprille’s Pure Bathing Culture, who today share single “Pendulum,” off their forthcoming full-length debut, ‘Moon Tides.’ ”Pendulum” is a perfect mid-tempo album opener that pulses and shines, and other standout tracks from the album — “Dream The Dare”, “Twins”, “Scotty” and “Golden Girl” — are slices of reverb-drenched, soulful, danceable electro-pop, that musically and lyrically tap into an introspective worship of the natural and psychic mysteries that surround us. MapleMusic Recordings will release ‘Moon Tides’ on October 22nd and the band will share songs from the forthcoming album on an North American tour this fall.
Cold War Kids follow up this year’s killer comeback “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts” with the “Tuxedos” EP. Dismemberment Plan, the ground-breaking and influential indie rock four-piece, is excited to announce that they will release ‘Uncanney Valley‘, the group’s first album of new music in 12 years on October 15th, through MapleMusic Recordings / Partisan Records.
In 2003, if you told the members of The Dismemberment Plan that ten years later they would not only be releasing a new album, but their best record to date, there’s no way they would have believed you. Since forming in Washington, D.C. in 1993, the band has released four highly acclaimed full-lengths, toured the world many times over, and become one of the most well respected-and indefinable-acts in indie rock. But the past decade has seen their members exploring other areas both inside and outside of music, and even embracing adulthood. However, along the way something funny happened: They reunited three years ago to play some shows to support the reissue of 1999′s ‘Emergency & I‘, and realized their most potent magic had yet to be bottled.
J. Roddy Walston & The Business return with their third studio album ”Essential Tremors”. Produced by Grammy-winning engineer Mark Neill (The Black Keys), the 11 tracks hold fast to true rock and roll, if you don’t believe us see “Heavy Bells”. Vinyl copies of “Essential Tremors” include a bonus 7″. One of MMR’s newest signings Wildcat! Wildcat! released their 4-track self-titled EP today. Feed The Beat paired them with Passion Pit for one of the coolest shows of SXSW and made a video for it. Catch them in Toronto September 17th with MS MR at The Pheonix. Southern rock veterans Drive-By Truckers reissue of the 2000 live album “Alabama Ass Whuppin’”. Recorded in clubs throughout Georgia during the 1999 Pizza Deliverance Tour, the album is coming for the first time to vinyl on a 180 gram 2LP, as well as previously hard-to-find CD.
Stereophonics make their MMR debut with the band’s 8th studio record “Graffiti On The Train”. The newly refined and cinematic Stereophonics features strings arranged by famed James Bond composer David Arnold and is produced by Jim Lowe. Catch them during their fall tour when they hit Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall September 25th. Will Sheff shares his autobiography on Okkervil River’s latest “The Silver Gymnasium”. The John Agnello-produced 11 songs take place in the small town of Meriden, New Hampshire in 1986 which Sheff has detailed in the interactive map made by NPR. Brooklyn’s post-punk newcomers Butter The Children revisit the ghosts of classic punk on “True Crime”. The EP is the stuff the best punk is made of: a sugary dose of loud guitars, muscular bass, tsunami drums and morose lyrics about dejected wanderers. Chet Faker’s hard to come by 2012 debut EP “Thinking In Textures” has been reissued on vinyl ahead of his upcoming album later this year.
MapleMusic Recordings Welcomes Andrew Austin Into The Fold With The Release Of “While It’s Still Light Out”
Pre-Order ‘While It’s Still Light Out’ Via iTunes HERE
MapleCore is thrilled to announce that Andrew Austin will be joining the MapleMusic Recordings family with the October 8th release of his new album “While It’s Still Light Out.”
The Toronto-by-way-of-Sarnia singer-songwriter recruited the legendary producer David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals, We Are Augustines) to help carve out the sound he has been cultivating for years. Recorded in Newfeld’s Dobbstown Haunted Church studio, the process was so involved and intense that Austin ended up living out of the adjoining Priest’s House for a period of time.
Boasting a talent that can thread lines between Paul Simon‘s minimalist folk and Patrick Watson‘s anthemic exploits – Andrew has captured the emotional, surreal and reflective undertones that bleed throughout his live performances. With songs that evoke romance like “Beautiful Bones” or the reflective and wistful “If It Ain’t This Town,” Andrew is pushing the limits of the singer/songwriter genre and proving that his musical chops are a force to be reckoned with.
While his name may be new to some, his voice may be familiar. Andrew’s colourful past includes being the bandleader for Andy Kim, being a part of a Beatles tribute act – and more recognizably as the voice behind Tim Horton’s “It’s Time For Tims” and Alexander Keith’s “Toast This Life” campaigns. The latter ended up charting in the top 10 on ITunes and has achieved over 100,000 hits on Youtube and counting. You can listen to the “Toast This Life” tune HERE.
