MapleMusic Recordings Welcomes Andrew Austin Into The Fold With The Release Of “While It’s Still Light Out”
Pre-Order ‘While It’s Still Light Out’ Via iTunes HERE
MapleCore is thrilled to announce that Andrew Austin will be joining the MapleMusic Recordings family with the October 8th release of his new album “While It’s Still Light Out.”
The Toronto-by-way-of-Sarnia singer-songwriter recruited the legendary producer David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals, We Are Augustines) to help carve out the sound he has been cultivating for years. Recorded in Newfeld’s Dobbstown Haunted Church studio, the process was so involved and intense that Austin ended up living out of the adjoining Priest’s House for a period of time.
Boasting a talent that can thread lines between Paul Simon‘s minimalist folk and Patrick Watson‘s anthemic exploits – Andrew has captured the emotional, surreal and reflective undertones that bleed throughout his live performances. With songs that evoke romance like “Beautiful Bones” or the reflective and wistful “If It Ain’t This Town,” Andrew is pushing the limits of the singer/songwriter genre and proving that his musical chops are a force to be reckoned with.
While his name may be new to some, his voice may be familiar. Andrew’s colourful past includes being the bandleader for Andy Kim, being a part of a Beatles tribute act – and more recognizably as the voice behind Tim Horton’s “It’s Time For Tims” and Alexander Keith’s “Toast This Life” campaigns. The latter ended up charting in the top 10 on ITunes and has achieved over 100,000 hits on Youtube and counting. You can listen to the “Toast This Life” tune HERE.
