New Releases – Phish ‘Fuego’, Vacationer ‘Relief’ & SomeKindaWonderful ‘SomeKindaWonderful’

Legendary jam band Phish have returned with their 12th studio album ‘Fuego’. Originally reuniting out of genuinely wanting t hang out, eventually the band sat down to try to write in a way they never had before. Listen to guitarist Trey Anastasio and keyboardist Page McConnell talk about writing the songs across 5 notepads via NPR. Of course the only real way to experience Phish is live, check out their tour dates here to see if they hit your town. Vacationer return with their highly anticipated follow-up record ‘Relief’. The Philly-based group, consisting of The Starting Line’s Kenny Vasoli along with Body Language’s Matthew Young and Grant Wheeler, refine their months on the road into tighter and more powerful tracks. Watch the recently released video for the infectiously sunny ‘The Wild Life’. Cleveland alt-rock group SomeKindaWonderful  have released their self-titled debut album. Watch the video for the slightly-disorienting hit song ‘Reverse’ on their Vevo Channel or stream the full album on their YouTube with the SKW Visualizer.  A short string of US dates has already been announced with a full tour in the works.

New Releases – Drive-By Truckers ‘English Oceans’, Ume ‘Monuments’ & SomeKindaWonderful ‘Reverse’

Alabama’s legendary roots rockers Drive-By Truckers enter the double digits with their 10th studio album ‘English Oceans’. The record’s 13 tracks show an almost equal split of writing credits between co-front men Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, watch the band perform Cooley’s track ‘Made Up English Oceans’ in the Lyric Theater in Birmingham, Alabama. The boys are on a North American tour right now supported by Blitzen Trapper and Shovels & Rope, see full dates here. Ume (pronounced “Ooo-May”) make their MMR debut with ‘Monuments‘. The Austin band play the hard rock equivalent of IDM layering meaty chords and ripping lead lines with melodic keyboard. Listen to the first single to drop from ‘Monuments’ titled ‘Chase It Down’. The very first song SomeKindaWonderful recorded together, ‘Reverse’ premiered yesterday on Idolator and is now up on iTunes. Frontman Jordy Towers tells Idolator  “‘Reverse’ is a story song told in reverse. It’s a true story actually … Something about telling a story in reverse is almost more emotional and revealing to me and it just naturally came out in that form when I wrote it.”
