Bop English – AKA White Denim’s James Petralli – Debuts New Single ‘Sentimental Wilderness’ Announces Spring Tour & Album Pre-order
Pre-Order ‘Constant Bop’ Via iTunes HERE
Today marks the release of ‘Sentimental Wilderness‘, the second single from Bop English, the recording name of White Denim frontman James Petralli. ‘Sentimental Wilderness’ picks up right where ‘Dani’s Blues (It Was Beyond Our Control)‘ leaves off, a rollicking track that features thoughtful guitar leads and melodic synths that fit seamlessly over a soundscape that is very much timelessly rock & roll-oriented. Bop English also made the pre-order for their highly anticipated debut album ‘Constant Bop‘ (due out April 14th via Downtown Records and Fontana North) live today and announced the dates for their first North American tour.
The ten tracks James decided on for the record demonstrate an encyclopedic knowledge of songwriting, revisiting everything from Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne to LL Cool J and Santana for inspiration. Despite the fact that Constant Bop is full of disparate influences, under the spell of James Petralli it all makes for an incredibly coherent album. It’s a rich and diverse record that’s teeming with pop classicism and zippy rock ‘n’ roll. There are layers upon layers to explore on Constant Bop, with a serious attention to detail being applied to every track. Scrupulous and ever diligent, there’s a ton to unwrap on ‘Constant Bop,’ a record that jumps from vocoder use on a ’60s-jazz influenced jam to sampled 808-kicks on country numbers. It’s all there, and it’s all distinctly James Petralli.

The band will celebrate the album release on March 5th and 6th with shows at Mercury Lounge in New York. Their full Spring tour kicks off March 31 in New Orleans and will make stops in Atlanta, Tampa, Toronto, Chicago, Montreal and more.
‘Space Is Still the Place’ encompasses the idea of a “Future South,” which was developed by the band after touring across the country, heavily in the South, over the last few years.
Praise for ‘Space Is Still The Place’:
“No matter how much research you put into figuring out who will be the hottest new artists of each year, another act comes into your vision with an output that absolutely blows you away.” - The Huffington Post
“‘Slipstream’, is a lush, space-western odyssey. Rolling in with a plodding bass line and restrained drumming, the track builds slowly before a hypnotic guitar riff oozes into the mix.’” - Consequence of Sound
“This band brings a live rawness that masterfully bleeds into their records. It’s an unmatched je ne sais quoi that makes their sound relatable to the listener and devoid of condescension.” - Life + Times
“The once psych-rock track [Infinite Cities (Francis Preve Remix)] has a whole new sound that may surprise you, as it has taken on a house beat to carry you straight onto the dance floor.” - Earmilk

Pre-Order ‘Sound & Color’ Via iTunes HERE
Sound & Color – the follow-up to Alabama Shakes‘ Gold-certified debut album, Boys & Girls, which earned the group three GRAMMY® nominations, including a nod for Best New Artist – will be released on April 21 by ATO Records and MapleMusic Recordings.
Sound & Color demonstrates the tremendous strides made by Alabama Shakes since the release of 2012′s Boys & Girls. From the gently swaying, chiming title song to the garage-rock freak-out on “The Greatest” to the psychedelic space jam “Gemini,” Alabama Shakes build on the soulful blues-rock base and map a surprising, innovative new direction.
“We took our time to write this record, and I’m really glad we did,” says lead singer/guitarist Brittany Howard. “We were able to sit down and think about what’s exciting to us. This record is full of genre-bending songs.”
Sound & Color was recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium studio. The band co-produced the album with Blake Mills - a young guitar wizard who has helmed sessions by Sara Watkins and Sky Ferreira, and played alongside everyone from Norah Jones and The Dixie Chicks to Lana Del Ray and Kid Rock.
After more than ten years, four albums, platinum record sales, a volley of top ten singles and three Brit Awards, it would have been simple for Kaiser Chiefs to sit back and coast a while, to enjoy the warm glow of being one of Britain’s most cherished bands.
But in late 2012 there came a change: the departure of founding member and drummer Nick Hodgson, and thus the album Education, Education, Education & War began out of frustration. But in the days that followed, the sense of neutered creativity gave way to something thrilling and unleashed. By the end of that week, Rix recalls, they had “Nineteen or 20 ideas for songs.” And more importantly, Wilson says, “We had the spark that gave us hope.”
Two Gallants’ Adam Stephens (guitar, harmonica, keyboard and vocals) and Tyson Vogel (drums, guitar and vocals) spent one month recording their 5th album ‘We Are Undone’ with Karl Derfler (Tom Waits) at Panoramic House in Northern California. The duo is set to play four Canadian dates this April, full tour dates and tickets can be found here. ‘Afraid of Ghosts’ the latest release from Georgia native Butch Walker comes four years after his last album ‘Spade’. Watch the video for his latest single ‘Bed On Fire’ here.
Austin psychedelic rock outfit The Bright Light Social Hour announces the release of their sophomore album, Space Is Still the Place on March 10, 2015 via MapleMusic Recordings and Frenchkiss Records. The 10-track collection was written, performed, produced and engineered by the band at their home studio in Austin, TX, and mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, TV On The Radio, Future Islands).
The Bright Light Social Hour convened while Curtis Roush and Jack O’Brien attended graduated school together at the University of Texas in Austin. Following graduation, they released their first self-titled LP in 2010. In the months and years that followed, their songs won over their hometown, and they scored an unprecedented six awards at the SXSW 2011 Austin Music Awards.
Space is Still the Place encompasses the idea of a “Future South,” which was developed by the band after touring across the country, heavily in the South, over the last few years. While on the road, the band usually stayed with people in various cities instead of hotels and gained a new perspective on the struggle young Americans faced after experiencing it first-hand.
Chet Faker made his U.S. daytime television debut last week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Ellen introduced the Australian singer & producer as one of her “favorite new artists,” and Idolator called it “brilliant” and a “star-making performance.” Faker performed his hit single ”Gold“ with a full band including Dave Harrington (Darkside) on bass, Kirk Schoenherr on guitar and Sam Hirschfelder playing drums.
