Autre Ne Veut Set To Release ‘Age Of Transparency’ On October 2, 2015

Autre Ne Veut AOT Header

Pre-Order ‘Age Of Transparency’ Via iTunes HERE

Arthur Ashin, a.k.a. Autre Ne Veut, announces the release of  ‘Age of Transparency,’ a genre-bending album that manipulates and fuses jazz, electronic and alternative elements.  It will be released on October 2, 2015 via Downtown Records and Fontana North.

He also shares the video for lead single, ‘World War Pt. 2.’ (directed by BANGS, a.k.a Allie Avital). Citing Michael Haneke films Funny Games and Amour, where “the horrific and grotesque emerge from mundane, sunlight environments,” as inspirations, Avital says Ashin and she aimed to create “a metaphor for the many burdens we carry with us.”

‘Age of Transparency’ marks the second step in a trilogy exploring the difficulty of making personal connections in an impersonal time. “The title comes from marketing jargon,” Ashin explains.”It’s a term for the place we’re in now, where truth and transparency are just ways to sell things and honesty is its own kind of performance.” Coming from an artist who pushes his voice and body to their breaking points, it might seem like a strange admission. But for Ashin, close is as close as you can get.”Transparency is an impossibility,” he says. “It’s more about trying to be transparent and falling on your face in the process.”

Indie88 Premieres Thomas D’Arcy’s New Video ‘Fooled You Twice’

This morning Toronto’s alternative radio station Indie88 premiered the hands on video for Thomas D’Arcy’sFooled You Twice‘. The title track comes from his latest album and is the record’s second single following ‘All Over Your Face’Watch the video above or on Indie88.com.

The station wrote this about the video: “Mix in one part groove and equal parts pop sounds, Thomas D’Arcy’s impressive songwriting abilities is paralleled only by his production skills. Perhaps that’s why he gets so much praise in this music video. With 100 hands pulling, slapping, touching and stroking him, it seems like there’s not enough of him to go around. The simple yet effective music video, directed by Frank Guidoccio, is a perfect match for this track, which is the second single from his eponymous album.”

Rhett Miller Reveals New Video For ‘Most In The Summertime’

Listen To The Track ‘Most In The Summertime’ HERE

Rhett Miller has been playing in touring bands (most notably Old 97’s) for the better part of 20 years, aka traveling from town to town for an entire generation. Thus he has definitely earned the right to title his latest solo album ‘The Traveler,’ which is out now.

A standout track from the album is ‘Most In The Summertime.’ A warm, bouncy song on the surface that has a darker undertone too. The song’s new video (directed by Max Nichols) has the same tones. Although ‘The Traveler’ was written and performed by Miller he also had some help, most notably by the members of Black Prairie, a band based in Portland that plays everything from bluegrass to klezmer to country and shares members with the Decemberists. Peter Buck of REM also added additional guitar work.

New Release: Alabama Shakes ‘Sound & Color’ & San Fermin ‘Jackrabbit’

Sound & Color – the follow-up to Alabama Shakes‘ Gold-certified debut album, Boys & Girls – demonstrates the tremendous strides made by the band. From the gently swaying, chiming title song to the garage-rock freak-out on “The Greatest” to the psychedelic space jam “Gemini,” Alabama Shakes build on the soulful blues-rock base and map a surprising, innovative new direction. See the Shakes live when they come up to Canada headlining Toronto’s Field Trip festival and hit the west coast for Squamish Valley Music Festival. San Fermin bandleader Ellis Ludwig-Leone wrote Jackrabbit by himself from start to finish, only to find that after a year testing the songs on the road the album wasn’t nearly finished. Ellis explains, “I went from being this isolated composer guy, out in the woods, to sitting in the back of a van with seven other members playing shows in rock clubs every night. When I got back, I revisited it all, ripped these holes in the middle of all the existing songs and added some new songs. I rethought everything I had been writing.” Watch the full band performing “Emily” and the “title track” live via their YouTube.

MapleMusic Recordings Welcomes JP Hoe To The Family

MapleMusic Recordings are thrilled to announce the signing of  the incredibly talented singer/songwriter from Winnipeg – JP Hoe. Described by The Times & Transcript as having “sharp, charming songs with a voice as earnest as some of pop’s finest heroes” – his style is both stripped-down and soaring.

The six time Western Canadian Music Award nominated artist has a tremendous gift for writing songs and he will be putting that gift to use again this coming Summer when he’ll be releasing his sixth full length record on MMR.  Expect an extraordinary collection of cinematic epics that will be both infectious and completely memorable.

Hoe’s generous, blue-sky voice is the product of hundreds of days on the road, playing gigs all over the world, connecting with audiences via his unguarded lyrics, and his down-to-earth unpretentious charm. There’s a reason his annual home-town concert, The JP Hoe Hoe Hoe Holiday Show, is a perennially sold out December tradition; the guy knows a thing or two about showmanship.
Album announcement and tour dates to come soon.
